Ethiopia

Ethiopia is one of the fastest-growing economies on the African continent. The country is characterized by a rapidly improving investment climate, supported by ongoing political and macroeconomic reforms. Ethiopia has emerged as a rising destination for both domestic and international business opportunities. The Ethiopian economy is marked by substantial growth, with the industrial sector playing a key role due to investments in manufacturing and infrastructure. At the same time, the ICT sector is gaining prominence as digital transformation becomes a national priority under initiatives like “Digital Ethiopia 2025”. With a median age of about 19.5 years and a large share of the population under 30, Ethiopia boasts a young and dynamic workforce. This demographic advantage, coupled with the government’s emphasis on education and skills development, provides a strong talent base for industries, particularly in technology and manufacturing. Ethiopia’s focus on economic diversification and digital innovation continues to shape its future, offering significant opportunities for businesses seeking growth.

Did you know ... ?

Ethiopia is often referred to as the "Cradle of Humankind". The discovery of Lucy, a 3.2-million-year-old hominid fossil, solidified its place as one of the earliest known habitats of human ancestors.

Ethiopia successfully resisted European colonization, maintaining its sovereignty. The victory over Italian forces at the Battle of Adwa in 1896 remains a symbol of African resistance and pride.

Legend credits a 9th-century goat herder named Kaldi with the discovery of coffee after observing his energetic goats. Coffee remains deeply intertwined with Ethiopian culture and a cornerstone of its economy.

AmaliTech Training Academy Takoradi

The AmaliTech Training Academy in Takoradi was opened to provide employment opportunities outside the capital Accra. The training center has a capacity of 150 trainees and trains over 900 trainees in a 3-year period. The training programme offers both general and specialized curricula taught in a vocational training system comparable to the German dual vocational training system. Trainees are offered employment in the service center upon completion of their training. The training content includes IT, data and digital skills but also the soft skills required to start their own business or apply for other jobs in other companies. The curricula are developed based on the labor market needs in the IT sector in Ghana and customer requirements in Europe. To ensure diverse job opportunities upon completion of the training program, AmaliTech focuses on the mismatch between commonly available skills and skill levels to ensure the employability of trainees after training.
