Discover Rwanda as a Service Destination

Find out why Rwanda can be considered to be a promising destination.

Our seconded GIZ advisor for GIZ Global project training and Job Creation, Annabell Kreuzer, flew to Rwanda to collaborate with our DSAA member companies, GIZ, and other possible partners. During this period, she had a chance to attend an event jointly organized by the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), Harambee, and the GIZ project “Future of Work”. The goal of this gathering was to inform global BPO companies and analysts that had been flown into Rwanda for the conference about the value proposition of Rwanda as an emerging BPO destination.

During the first day, there was an exchange with RDB in the morning, followed by a site visit of Tek Experts which is the first international tech support / BPO company on the ground in Rwanda. During the visit, Annabell presented the DSAA and its benefits and membership process to the audience and mentioned the example of DSAA’s cooperation with Tek Experts.

The second day included three panels, the first one featuring two DSAA member/partner companies: SolvIT and Tek Experts, who talked about their business model in Rwanda, the advantages and challenges of the destination, and some tips for new companies planning to enter the market. In the afternoon there was another exchange between RDB and the analysts to further work on the value proposition.

Key outcomes of the event were the following:
o Rwanda can be seen as a “boutique, nearshore” services destination as opposed to an offshore, scale, and volume destination for investors with an interest in emerging markets and specific GBS segments such as tech support and tourism with a focus on impact sourcing.
o Rwanda has a conducive business environment (stable, low risk, business-friendly), quality infrastructure, and highly motivated talent potential (that requires additional skilling to reach full potential).
o There is a strong case for investment impact in the form of impact sourcing from North America/ European source markets and inclusive employment with GBS benefits.
